PDMS – Example of Stretch/Trim using ID P-Point

In the previous post we saw how Stretch/Trim Functions in PDMS Equipment Modelling works in PDMS.

Here is an example of Stretch/Trim using ID P-Point-

The present saddle height of the equipment from the centerline of the vessel is 1300mm. The saddle height is increased to 1500mm. So the saddle height needs to be increased by 200mm.

Step 1:

Check the present saddle height

Step 2:

Select the primitive box for saddle which need to extended by 200mm

primitive box for saddle

Step 3:

To extend the primitive box for saddle by 200mm got to Modify>Stretch/Trim>ID P-Point.

extend the primitive box

Step 4:

ID P-Point… form is displayed on the screen. Enter the value in mm by which you need to stretch/trim the primitive box. A +ve value will stretch the primitive and a –ve value will trim the primitive.

In this example enter 200mm in the value to extend the box.(Always press enter after entering the value)

extend the box

Step 5:

Click Apply button to execute then function. This will prompt you to identify the P-point to be stretch/Trim.

identify P-point

Step 6:

Pick the ID-point on the primitive box which needs to be extended.

Pick ID-point

Step 7:

A confirmation form is displayed on the screen which prompts user if he wants keep the changes made to primitive or return the primitive to original size and position.

Since we want the changes click NO on the form. This will make the required change to the primitive box.

Step 8:

To modify the other primitive box of the saddle go on the box in the hierarchy and repeat the step 2 to 7.
