Piperack or Bridge Design Flow Chart

Piperack or Bridge design flow chart

The process of designing a piperack or bridge involves a lot of consideration and co-ordination between different groups in the project. The major groups involve in the development of the piperack or bridge is layout, stress & structural.

The initial study begins with layout group which gives the input in the form of 2D layout & section drawing to stress group. The stress group performs the stress analysis and calculates the load generated by the piping system which is then passed on to the structural department. Structural designs the piperack or the bridge based on the load input received from piping & the other applicable design parameters. The structural design is incorporated in the 3D model for the other discipline to check if it is acceptable with them. If there are any constraints in the design on any discipline these are discussed and mutually agreed and resolved. The finalization of the design will also require the above activities to be repeated again with some additional activities. For piping, the submission of the piperack or bridge layout & the final stress analysis with report generation and submission would be the last activity similarly the submission of the piperack or bridge structural layout & the final staad/sacs analysis with report generation and submission would be the final activity.

The process of piperack or bridge design continues through the complete span of the project and there are some phases in the process which requires more than one cycle to get complete. The complete flow of activities involved in the process of designing a piperack or bridge is explained using the flowchart below.
